SYLVAIN BOUDRIAS RECEIVED AN AWWA AWARD

On June 10, 2015, Sylvain Boudrias, P.Eng, MBA, President of Darspec, received the George Warren Fuller Award for the Quebec Chapter of the American Waters Works Association (AWWA).

Established in 1881, the American Water Works Association is the largest nonprofit, scientific and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water. With approximately 50,000 members, the AWWA provides solutions to improve public health, protect the environment, strengthen the economy and enhance public safety and the quality of life.

The Association awards the George Warren Fuller Award to an outstanding member of each of its 43 sections who has demonstrated exceptional engineering capability and leadership in the innovative tradition of drinking water management exemplified by George Warren Fuller (1868–1934) the engineer responsible for the first modern water filtration plant among other achievements in water purification and public health.

Mr. Boudrias is an expert designer of cross-connection control systems used in residential and industrial structures to protect the interior potable water supply from outside contamination. He is regularly called upon by a wide variety of industries, municipalities, government agencies and residential developers to educate and train managers, technicians and other stakeholders in safe drinking water management.

As an AWWA certified trainer, Mr. Boudrias has trained hundreds of backflow prevention device testers throughout Quebec. His commitment to the industry is reflected in his participation in several committee, including the AWWA Cross-Connection Control committee. From 2009 to 2015, he served as Certifying Officer and technical consultant for the Quebec Chapter of the AWWA. He has also served on several AWWA committees, particularly the Quebec Committee on Cross-connection Control and the Canadian Coordinating Committee for Cross-connection Control, for which he still acts as a consultant.
