World Water Day

The importance of water

On World Water Day, the United Nations is highlighting the importance of fresh water. This day aims to raise awareness about the more than 2 billion people who do not have access to clean water.

This year, the focus is on groundwater, an invisible resource whose impact is visible around the world.

Indeed, life would not be possible without groundwater, which powers industrial processes, food production, and provides the largest amount of water we use. Their influence is visible everywhere. Drinking water and sanitation, food supply and the natural environment all depend on groundwater.

Therefore, groundwater must be used in a careful and sustainable way. Like climate change, groundwater knows no boundaries. We must work together to improve transboundary groundwater sharing, balancing all the needs of a changing world.

To understand how we use groundwater, we invite you to watch this less than two-minute video, which sums it up perfectly.

Everyone should have access to clean water. It is important for us to participate and support this World Water Day!
